A guy I know tore them up last saturday at Copan! He and his buddy both limited out! Haven't heard any details about where and how - but they sure got into them somewhere at Copan! Hoping to find some like that myself... soon!
Well, damn. I've been fishing way too shallow then. On the side, I launched at Birch on Sunday. Fished from 1:30 -7:30 with medium shiners. All over the place, except up the main creek/river. Score was 7 Largemouth, all small except one 2 1/2 lbs. ZERO Crappie.
Copan has to turn on with this weather pattern, one would think.

Went to cotton creek yesterday fish were moving up and down through out the day.We ended up with 31 total mostly with big females wanting to spawn in a foot of water.
Runngun, I'm assuming you were walking the bank, it was a windy son of a gun yesterday
I have a 17 ft weldbuilt with a Mudd buddy mud motor its a blast to drive at copan and hulah. It only needs 3 or 4 inches of water the next 2 weeks should be awesome!
That sounds like a fun boat.
Fished all weekend
We fished both days this weekend and caught a total of 70 keepers most were staging Saturday and moved up to spawn saturday night .Sunday about 2 out of five had already spawned and they were super shallow.

What end of the lake did you fish? I cleaned 21 yesterday, all still had eggs.
Went to copan Friday. I fished in the cove with the fishing docks. Dont know the name. It was loaded with nice sized fish and shad. the cove is 10' deep. I was only able to catch 1 fish out of it. I dont understand what my trouble was, bc they were stacked in there. I ran on north to the standing timber. I caught lots of short fish 4-6' down in 15 FOW. I was fishing the edges of the river channel. Also got into the small Blues in a big way. I hate catching them on my jigs! Water temp was 83 and air temp was 103! the lake is much murkier than it was 3 weeks ago. There was also NO thermacline throughout the lake. Could it have turned over? I did not hardly any fish or shad on the graph except for that one cove. What are your thoughts of the water turning over in the end of august?
Well I can tell you there was a thermocline on killer last 2-3 weeks, this weekend it was gone?? Lots of gas bubbles escaping on upper lake and the water looked dinghy. Don't know if it turned over, or if they are drawing so much water to make power that it killed it? Is that even possible? The more I learn the less I know!
