When Zeke and I were there last Friday we caught about 20 in 16 fow- maybe half on jigs- most off that weird structure at the base of the rip rap that runs the length of it. ( what is that thing?) Have you noticed that the Oklahoma Fishing Report always seems to be about 2 weeks behind?

Crappie Ciller, that is a excellent spot to get crappie. Have fished it for years and Doug and I just call it the Cable or the Fence. Have yet to find anyone who actually knows what it is. There is structure within it at a few spots that hold more fish then other areas. We found a lot of fish scattered on it, and we slowly crept along it last week fishing 8 different baits and different depths but nothing. We were fighting a 20mph wind also so that made it a little more challenging than normal. Happy to hear you guys got some. For the last few months, positive reports from LCB have been almost non existent. The store at the lake is also open now. Not sure the hours but do know they have a little selection of baits, minnows, snacks, drinks and misc items.

Exactly what we found on The Fence- fish were scattered the whole length of it and the wind was howling. When we found a section with a few more fish I hit anchor mode on the Ultrex and we fished minnows and jigs barely off the structure and caught a few here and there. We went there hoping to find some saugeye but no luck there. Water temp was 54 and the air temp felt like 33! Thanks for the heads up on the store opening. Makes the trip a little easier.

Caught some catfish bait (dink crappie), only 2 keepers. Got 'em on a slow upward retrieve. Lots of people at the dock. Only one other guy getting any on jigs. Minnow guys were catching a few keepers, up to 12 inches. Lots of dinks.

Fished 12 hours with jigs and minnows. Blue/white hair jig and chartreuse/white did well. Next year's fishing should be great, since there were tons of dinks (got 79). There was an occasional big one. Kept seven between 12 1/2" and 14 1/2". Tried to load pics, but when I hit "select files", my PC does nothing.

How deep were you fishing? Were you out in a boat or dock fishing?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Most of the fish were suspended at 10'-12' at the dock. The dinks were from 5'-20'. More people today. Some were catching from one to a few 11"-13" crappie, mostly on minnows. Jig people were getting LOTS of dinks (catfish-bait size). I kept 14 from 11"-13.5" and a few smaller bleeders. Only three of us got more than 3 over 11". Blue/white was good again, as well as black/blue and black/chartreuse. It was a very nice day, except that I had a dead battery when I went to leave. Fortunately, a very nice young man named Wil (Will?) gave me a jump. Might be the fan belt was loose and the alternator was not charging the battery. Tomorrow will tell. Tried to load pictures again, but NG.

I went to CB on Wednesday, April 12, the evening...Sorry for the late report! I took my two oldest kids with me (5 & 3 years old), and we managed to catch four on minnows off the rocks by the dock. I was fishing bobbers with the kids, and we lost at least four fish before we could set the hook. The ones we caught were all males.

Fished 9-6. 12 from 11"-15", and 37 dinks. Mostly on chartreuse/chartreuse, black/blue, opening night BG, and minnows. Big fish at 9'-12'. Dinks at all depths. Steamed the 15" fish in a ginger sauce, with shredded ginger and mint. Unbelievably good. Couldn't load pictures again, so I might have to consult with the Reaper to see if we can fix the problem. Will send a pic of the 15"er to Swollencrappie, 4lber, and Redge, so at least three people will know that I am just techno-illiterate, rather than a smoke-blower.
ps Just a few dinks, lots of bluegills, and plenty of carp on the banks.

I have had requests for the steamed ginger recipe. It's something that my Chinese friends do, and it's very simple. They sometimes use a bamboo steamer, sometimes a covered wok. Any steamer would do. The fish (cleaned and scaled) is placed on a long plate on top of 4 or 5 strips of a Chinese vegetable (don't know the name, but it's similar to celery). Shredded ginger (and some powdered ginger, I think) is spread over the fish. Steam for about ten minutes. Remove and eat with mint leaves. I imagine fillets would work as just as well, but my friends don't like to waste any meat. Bon appetit.
