Two of my favorite ways to fish for Crappie. I always have a drop shot rigged as well as a Timmy Tom's weedless. I watched a couple BASS pros win a Bull Shoals tournament in the 80's with drop shot rigs. When Tommy Biffle was in his early 20's I went to his first ever seminar on pitching jigs and was hooked (pun intended.) From those times forward they have been favorite techniques applied to all my fishing. I rig my drop shots like Tim but use two 1/32 oz lite wire jigs (from Litewire Hooker) with #2 hooks. Can use jigs alone or minnows that way. I still prefer baitcast reels with flipping swiches when I pitch heavy stuff (ala Huckabee) but use spinning reels for vertical drop shots or cast & drag. I rarely loose a fish with the Timmy Tom Kast jig with the front nose eye. Just gotta set the hook like Ranger does.
