Thanks Bigsky. My biggest 7 ever I think. 13 lbs 13 ounces. Gotta love winter fishing when things are popping!

A day to remember. And winter IS the time to get the big ones. My best strings came in back-to-back winters in the 90's (before the cormorant explosion). There was a structure in the big northwest corner of Lake Hefner that rose up about 12' or so above the riprap. They leveled it when the lake was way down. In the winter, the BIG fish camped on it from 4:30 to dark. Slip corking yielded many, many 2.5# fish, sometimes 15 or more in an evening. In the next 5 or 6 years after the structure was leveled, float tubing the tower was THE place for big fish in the winter, lots of 2.0-2.2's, but very few 2.5's. Since then, a 1.5 has been a big fish.
Since then, wading the shallows at Eufaula in the spring has been the best place for me, as far as getting big fish.
Hope you have more big days coming up.

Took this photo today from Coon Creek toward Sarge Creek. Major ice build up. Same way from Washunga north. Been a lot of years since I have seen this. Temperature hit 0 degrees this morning. Should have a big shad kill. Best thing that could happen since we haven't had one in a long time. Should really improve all fishing.
