Hit some new coves and other new areas, 8 decent fish, threw back twice that many. Fish were in 5 to 12 FOW hanging mostly at 5 feet deep on any cover. Needed minnows today, they were not aggressive at all. Got back to the dock just as a major thunderstorm wind hit. Newkirk measured 72 and Blackwell 90 mph according to the storm prediction center reports. Did not hear thunder till it was right on us and could not see how serious it was till the red dust cloud cleared the ridge. You should have seen the boats flying back for cover, I was able to tie up haul out because my launch was sheltered. I feel for those others, I dont think it would have been possible to haul a boat out with those waves.

A friend and I jug fished out of the Kaw City Marina yesterday and today. The temps and winds were mild but the cats were not particularly cooperative. We wound up with 8 channels and blues, nothing spectacular 2-4#s. Sandies were hitting with several boats camped out on some humps and we had a couple of 2 pounders trolling bandits.

Hey all I really need some help. I have been to Kaw twice now and haven't really had much luck. Caught two sandies yesterday but was wanting to get into some crappie. Where are the best places for crappie and also where are the best places to get shad. Wanted to throw out some juglines but couldn't get any shad in the net. I would appreciate any advice from you guys that have some experience on Kaw.
