Fished around the lake today and had some sucess. Started up in the rriver unloading at Flat Rock and fished up. Fish caught were in 8' to 14' DOW and were certainly on laydowns along the channel. Then loaded up and fished the lower end but with all the boat traffic it was a bumpy ride. Including a bass tourny goin on along with all the waverunners and party boats. Had a hard time finding something that hadn't been fished but ended up with 15 really nice fish. Total today was around 30 with 12 being weighable fish. Didn't keep anything today just run and gun trying to put together a pattern for next weekend since I will not be able to get back on the water til tourney day. Tomorrow its the Killer for a guide trip.......Ranger

I think Brian (EB) is being a bit modest when he says "nice fish" are being caught. My family went out with him yesterday and we had a great trip! We not only caught some "nice" fish, we caught some HUGE black crappie! It was by far the best day I ever had on Ft. Gibson. He took me to a section of the lake I'd never fished before and showed me how to find and catch them over lay downs. He was also very patient with my Wife and Daughter (more so than me...lol) and helped them when they needed it. He's very patient and it's easy to see that he's a good teacher.

We ended up with 25 crappie that filled a 5 gallon bucket to the very top. The biggest was 1.13 and if I had to guess, I'd bet the average was over a pound. Threw back probably 15 or so that were border line 10 inchers.

The funny part of the trip happened when my wife caught a Channel about 2 lbs. We're stocking up fish for a Church fish fry so we try to keep legal Crappie and any catfish we catch when fishing by ourselves. We asked Brian if we could keep the Channel Cat and I could tell he'd rather not, but since it was early on the day and I had no idea how many we'd catch, I told him I'd clean it and he graciously allowed us to throw it in the livewell. Wouldn't you know it, later on my wife catches a Blue about 6 to 7 pounds. I knew when I netted it that Brain didn't want this thing in his new Ranger. I also knew that my wife was going to want to KEEP IT! LOL Well, I fibbed and told her it wouldn't fit in the livewell and I turned it loose...all the while feeling those sharp laser beams emitting from her eyes burning a hole in my back!

Brian's new Ranger is a huge upgrade over the old Skiff. It's a nice ride with lots of storage. I liked the old Skiff, but his new boat is so much more comfortable to fish out of!!!

I was going to take pictures, but it totally slipped my mind. I was worn out from taking the Royal Rangers camping the two previous days and my brain just wasn't working as it should have.

If you want to learn how to catch these big ole Black Crappie on Gibson, give Brian a holler! As I understand that, he just recently expanded his guide service to include Ft. Gibson. Check out his site at lakeeufaulacrappiefishingguide.com.

Ranger or EB ,,how do you run from flatrock up past the island to get in the river ,,?? everytime i have ever tried it,, i try to follow my map on my locator but am yet to find anykind of decent channel to stay in and always (every time,) end up in real shallow water trying to go through there,, i dont fish up the river much because of that reason but would really like to ,,its hard for me to drive all the way up there and put in when i can leave my house and 15 min later have my boat in the water fishin on the other end,,i can make it to flatrock in about a 10-15 min ride in my boat... any advice is appreciated
    Thanks

the channel leaving Flat Rock goes east along the north bannk then shoots across the river to the south side. You can stay in 12 to 14 ft of water. On your map there is 2 channels choose the one going to the south side..hope this helps....Ranger
