Water is alil off color in the upper end, with that I mean you can see your jig like 3' to 4'. Down in Petit area and below it gets clearer though EB

Fished hard today unloading at Petit North ramp at 0725..Ice covering all edges of the lake and ramp about 8" to 10" out from the bank. When I left home it was 21 degrees and when I got over at Tenkiller in the hills it was a balmy 11 degrees. Water freezing in the guides of my rods. When that happens head to the trees. Well I did and got busted, no crappie in the trees so far this winter or I cant find them. Ended up with 13 very nice crappie 8 blacks and 5 whites. Fish today had moved off my woodpiles in 14' to 24' and were in 30' or deeper wood. Had 13 crappie, 2 sandbass, 2 bass, 1 drum, and 6 throwbacks. Baits of choice today and the only 1 if fished was the Bobby Garland cajun cricket on 1/8oz jig head. Water temps were 44.3 at unloading and got up to 47.1 close to Cherokee Landing. All crappie caught close to the channel drop off or on it. Going over again tomorrow and see if the wind direction will make a difference. Fishing on a blue bird day after a front usually doesnt treat me well anyway......Ranger

BUSTED....worse day of fishin that I can remember..well it certainly beats working but the catching part was bad. Had 3 keepers all day with several throwbacks. You could see the fish on the wood but they wouldn't hit anything. Even tried crappie candy first just 1 then heck I tried 2. Not sure if minnows would of worked today. With the weatherman saying lite winds from the NW thought it was going to be a killer day. But being lied to again with winds gusting to atleast 25mph and with a steady wind of atleast 15 from the NW it was almost impossible to fish my stuff where I caught them yesterday much less finess them and the hits I got was just a lite tap and with a bow in your line you had better be watching it closely. The good thing is I just wrote the day off and started putting wood in the lake thinking it will pay off in the long run....Ranger

Well I am glad it wasn't just me! Minnows didn't help! Same as you Ranger. Had a funeral early so didn't get on the lake until late but they sure didn't want to cooperate for us.
