Any recent reports from thunderbird? Anyone been down to the docks on the south side of the lake? Last year after the spring rains they were all closed. Curious if they are reopened.

Took the boat out today for the first time since before Christmas. Found some suspended on both sides of the roadbed. Caught several, mostly on minnows, casting and slow retrieve up to sides. Welcome to CDC roostertail. Not alot of light experience here but did catch some with lights at a marina on Eufaula a few years back.

Thanks for the info roostertail. If this wind will calm down and work doesn't get in the way, I'm going to try and get back out there this weekend and hit some spots along the South shore along with checking the bridges.

Anyone been to Tbird lately? Also how is the water clarity currently? Wanted to fish it Mon or Tues but afraid the rain will make it super muddy.

Went yesterday, finally a calm day, and hit some coves on both arms of the lake with timber and caught a few holding tight to the structure with all of them just off the bottom in 7-10 fow. Checked the road bed and marked good numbers but no bites. Water was pretty murky in the areas we fished but at Tbird, I don't really worry about that.

    Nobody talking about Thunderbird?

I haven't been out until last night. Went out mostly to try my new sonar. Pretty colors but I still don't know what I'm looking at.

I saw a few caught from the bank at the South Dam ramp. I tried a couple of spots in that area of the lake but no luck. Cool NE wind probably didn't help much. Water temps were 67-68 degrees. Maybe warmer temps this weekend will fire them up.

    Hello Thunderbird Crappie Fishermen !!!

This is my first time posting on Crappie.com and I have only crappie fished 1 day in my whole life (last weekend). I have been a shore bound catfisherman my whole life up until about 3 months ago when i got a boat. Now with a boat my kids have taken allot more interest in fishing. I figured the action of catching lots of crappie would keep them interested when the catfish ain't biting so while we were out last weekend we went in search of some crappie and got skunked. These little suckers are harder to catch than I thought and kids tend to lose interest fast if fish aren't being caught, so to keep them interested I need to start producing. We are strictly catch and release for any fish other than perch and shad (those are my catfish bait). We just fish for fun.

I got a fish finder and finding brush piles on the bottom is not a problem. Heck finding trees in the water isn't a problem either. I had read prior those are the places to look but every time I find spots like that, there was nothing there, but there was nearby. I can see what I am sure are crappie. We just cant seem to get them to bite, at all? We tried using minnows and even Tube Jigs of all sorts of colors. Half a day at it and not a single crappie caught.

Here are the couple spots we tried. (just copy and paste them into google maps to see where at)
    35.222883, -97.286162 (trees)
    35.229017, -97.304104 (trees)
35.221083, -97.270395 (volcano looking peak - about 15ft shallower than the surrounding bottom had the most amount of activity on the finder)
35.228795, -97.288291 (Sunken Boat and trees)

These fish finder images are from the main river channel that runs on the north side of the volcano area (3rd coordinates from above) . I'm guessing they are crappie? Not for sure on that though cause i've only had this fish finder going for about two weeks.

If those are crappie then i'm using the wrong type of lures or something cause we didn't catch a single one.
