I went out with a buddy and we caught dozens of dinks, with seven keeper crappie, 2 sand bass and 1 channel cat. Fishing ledges from 15-25 fow; fish were 6-14 ft deep. We had to quit by 10am.
redneck, I just pm'd you.

DC, Do you know what the water temp was?
You know, I had the temp on the depth finder's display, but I don't recall what it was reading. Seems like it was in the 70s.

Did you get to fish anything any shallower than the ledges? Probably not if you had to quit by 10. Fish sure seem to have a way of eating up time.
I'm not sure but I may have an idea of about where you were. I was on a spot much like that about 4 weeks ago out there. That day I could walk my jig up the ledge and when it got to the top I would get bit. All dinks though. I would like to talk with you some more about that some time if you are willing. If it's the same area, I'm new to the strategy and I'm trying to figure out how the fish use the area.
We didn't fish any water shallower than 15 ft. But we did catch a few in the top 1-5 ft before the Sun came over the trees. I'm not very good steering the trolling motor while fishing, so we didn't do any of that. Mostly just found a ledge/channel and dropped anchor. Vertical jigged some, but mostly casted slip corks. I guess as they drifted the ledge that enticed the bite, 'cause we didn't get much fishing straight under the boat. Jigs worked pretty good when the wind was calm enough to read the cork, but we had to use minnows much of the time because of the waves. If you want to talk sometime, you can send me a PM.

Went out for a bit today. Arrived at about 11 am left about 3pm. Stayed at the boat slip as I had to work later and just messed around with jigs, which those of you familiar with me, I usually use minnows. Not a bite! and talking to some of the others fishing, no one was catching great numbers. Water temp was 73.6

i was out for a few hours last thursday. caught 7 crappie 8 to 10" and 3 nice sandies trolling crankbaits around points and ledges. Most were caught in 15 fow on bandit 300s
Been out 3 times in the last 10 days. Last Wed. I caught the 2 best crappie that I've caught this year, 13.5 and the other was just over 14. Both caught at the marina! Water Tuesday was up about 6'' after the rain, stained everywhere I went, with temps in the 68 range. Caught alot of dinks and quite a few catfish. Gonna try to make it again this week before heading there Mon or Tues next week for sure.

I haven't noticed any posts in a while from asklouis. Anyone know why? Just curious, as I pass his boat at the marina when I go out. I can't tell if it's getting used much or not.
