    Default EF Sat 5/16

I'm thinking of going to EF in the morning. I haven't been in awhile. Anyone been there lately?

    What's the scoop?

Sorry guys, I have no report for East Fork either. I plan to fish White Oak in the morning if I can. If not, I may be at EF. I'll report then if I do.

My son bagged on me for turkey hunting so I did make it out to EF today. I had a pretty good day. I had an even dozen between 10"-12" and maybe 50-60 other fish. The catch was about 50/50 between jigs and minnows. The water had a little stain to it but not really too much. The crappie seemed to shut down after last rain passed.

I talked to 1 guy and he said he gave up on fishing for crappie and that this has been his worst year ever. That's funny, I'm have a pretty good year myself.

Speckwick, post how you do if you get to White Oak. I'll be up the hill from there turkey hunting one last time, if you hear a shot it's probably us missing another one.

    Kycreekboy, you been out lately?

I finally got out for a couple of hours after work Saturday afternoon. I fished a Red Oak creek in Ripley Ohio. Couldn't find the crappie. I caught 2 good bass, 2 bluegill, 1 small crappie and about a 5 to 7 lb. catfish. The fish were biting, just not what I was after. I couldn't stay long.

OCB and I met crappiemax at White Oak this morning. The creek looks good save a litlle mud. After wasting time in the main creek most of the morning we finally found some decent crappie in the marina area around floating docks. All on jigs, chartreuse YUM twisters. The bite wasn't exactly on fire, but we ended up with around 25 crappie and 1 nice sauger. I think we kept 8-10 for supper. Biggest fish of the day was 11" or so with a few 10"s. Glad to finally get out on the river. Maybe next time we won't be fishing post cold front conditions and the big ones will be more cooperative.

Hey crappiemax, our bad for not calling you once we found the fish. We had no cell service back in that marina area there. We'll have to do it again sometime.

No problem, I started to pull in ther this morning but there were 2 bass boats in there already. I probably would have kept looking around anyway. It's been alot of years since I've been there. I pretty much ran upstream untill I ran out of floatable water and the only thing I caught up there were a few gills. I came back down and went back in that cover where I first met you guys and fished around in there for awhile. That water is deeper than I thought it would be but was too clear. I did manage a few more dink crappie and a few bass out in the creek.

This isn't a commercial but I have Verizon and I had service the whole time. I used to loose service along the river but not anymore.

Yeah, I thought I noticed a bunch of guys following you....guess that was your network:D. As much as I fish I should change networks. There are places on East Fork where I can't get service, and anywhere near the river is a crap shoot. But, Cincy Bell is relatively cheap and no contract, so.....

You know, I don't think I caught anything shallower that maybe 5' or 6'. Most between 8 to 12 fow. I saw someone fishing (one of T-Bones?) stake bed. I saw him doing alot of casting but never did see him catch anything. At first I thought it was Speckwick but when I got closer I could see the guy had hair:D

It's been a goofy (but good) year. I haven't had a hot spot all year. I've moved around alot this year. I find them somewhere different every week.
