Default Water temps. Anyone been out lately?

I'm thinking of venturing out Saturday where it will be sunny and 47 around Cincinnati. I'll hit the Oh. River or maybe EF. Anyone been out? I'm curious if there is ice in the creeks and coves yet.

I was out Monday for a few hours mid afternoon. Water temps were 42-47 if I remember right.
I moved around quite a bit tried 4 or 5 spots. Caught maybe 20 or so all on jigs but most were small. I'm going to try to get out next week again.

We went to Acton yesterday to find it was locked up solid, with 2"+ of ice, ended up at Brookville and saw plenty of huge bait balls with larger fish feeding on them, we tryed jigging lay downs but in the end the ever changing wind won

My dad and I went to an OH River creek yesterday. Fished the warmest part of the day but it was pretty windy which made it cool even in the sun.

We had to break some thin ice to launch the boat. We also had some thin ice as we worked our way up creek a bit. It was clear toward the river.

But fishing was not good. We caught a few but it was very slow. Water temps were around 37 degrees. I was doing great a couple weeks back with water temps around 42 but what a difference those 5 degrees make on the fish. Couldn't catch any on jigs. We caught the few we caught on minnows. Truth be told, I probably missed a ton of bites since the bite was that light. I need to revisit my tackle for winter-time fishing. I think my bobbers aren't sensitive enough.

You might try opening the bend of the hook on your jigs, it can help with light bites

Found out that about 70% of Grant is frozen today lol lots of ice you cant tell is ice til your on the water as there is a small bit of water over alot of it. Went to East Fork and salvaged some fishing the last 2-3 hours of daylight. Water temps were right at and just below 40. Lots of shorts willing to eat minnows and jigs. Just a few keepers

Gotcha. I went sauger fishing today at some creek mouths. If i could have caught as many sauger as i did spots today, id been a lot better off! Im blown away how many bass we have been getting these past few weeks. Nothing big. But the spots have been crazy
