    Default Dropping Brush Piles

So I live near a private lake about 5 minutes from my house. It is an old quarry that was turned into a preserve. There are some huge crappie and bass in there. The only thing is that there is essentially no structure on the bottom except an occasional small rock. (about the size of a basketball.) So I asked the preserve owners If I could drop some brush piles, and they said sure as long as I put them deep enough that nobody will hit them with their motor. i've never dropped any brush piles so I am pretty much going blind on this. I'm thinking I'll drop a couple of small christmas trees or big limbs tied to a cinderblock and mark the spot with a waypoint on the bird. There is 15-20 foot visibility in this lake so I am questoning the depth I should drop them at. if any of you guys have any experience with this that would help a lot. Thanks.

Better take me with you ....and I'll show you.
Or better yet...give a pass and I'll put them there for you.

But will have to come back and get those slabs.

    Hey Taylor
Go to the home page and look under Crappie Cover, Lake Structure ect, plenty of great advice over there. The only problem I see with Christmas trees is they don't last very long. If ya got any neighbors with bamboo that would make an excellent material to use. Just look through that cover thread, lots of ideas in there. For depth I would try setting the cover in 10 fow first and then go from there. One of the hardest parts of setting cover is getting it to sink, remember ships were make from wood for a reason.

I'm very familiar with the water in which your fishing. We used to fish there back in the late 70's and 80's before the community took over the property.
