A lot of these guys on here are from SW Ohio. We don't get too much chatter from the guys in central Ohio.
To give a very vague answer to your post since I don't fish either of those lakes I would think you could catch crappie at either lake 8-15' deep. This is a general depth and probably applies to most lakes. I'm not sure why it happens but in Sept for a few week period I will start catching fish down to 20' and deeper. After a few weeks the fish will generally start moving shallower again.
I hope this helps.

Alum creek we caught black crappie in 2-7 ft in bays and the whites were in 12-25 ft. Middle pool deep trees drop shot. We got some nice fish north of 36 on a 7 to 15 drop pushing minnow rigs. In 3 outings pre fishing for our tournament I never caught a fish on plastics for what's worth.
Really someone that fishes there also I launch out of the ramp north of 36 did you catch any with size to them I don't do well unless they are spawning in the spring with plastics would love some insight on the lake not asking for your honey holes just general info

I fished on the western side near points and jigged the visible downed timber on the eastern side middle pool. 5.15 lbs on 8 fish so the fish were decent but not huge.
Both alum and Delaware fish have been in 10 fow. We have been catching them slowtrolling minnows right above the baitfish. If you see bait fish at 5 foot set your minnows to run a little above 5 foot. I'd give you a little more detail but we have a tournament on Delaware Saturday. We caught some real nice fish sunday at alum north of the howard road bridge
