It was fun!😁
Went out tonight for 3 hours....watched quite a few people not doing well.
Decided to do the same thing as last week....4 inch swimmers and craws were the ticket for big fish on almost every cast. The key was a varied retrieve after a couple fish were caught, then when the bite slowed change shape or color combo. Any white chartreuse combo and then a shad impersonator.
Saw some small fish poachers get busted...Very nice that for 2 weeks, the park has been patrolled heavy and people being checked for license and small fish.
Talked with the Wardens from neighboring counties who are helping CJ.
Warden Austin Levering gave me his number to call if anyone spots poaching or other violations at CJ...he said they can get someone there quickly.
His number is 419-236-8787.

Fished Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday....same results with the size slowing down on Tuesday when Guppy and I fished. Most of the largest Females were barren. Males still colorful....small females still had eggs!
Big Fish were back in deep water on drops...feeding heavy. They were still after Chartreuse and white....4" craw bite was the best....They teased with 4" Easy Shiners, hit light, then come back a second or third time....if you gave them slack, they took it!
Dale and I caught over 200 fish on Saturday...quite a day...he landed a 16.5 inch Crappie and another 15 incher...plenty of 13 and 14 inchers.
Have over 200 pics from the weekend. No Gators or Cats....plenty of WB still.
Good Fishing...The easy times are almost over! lol

Brent,
Sounds like Dale & you had a very memorable day!
I was wondering about water clarity after all this rain, can you give a report?
If ok, may drive over & fish some.
Does anyone have a recent report on CJ water conditions?
Water is warm and perfect...no algae yet, clarity is good for a fertile lake. CJ hardly ever gets muddy like other
local lakes...it is fishable when others aren't. CJ has a Northern filtering wetlands, and the Islands and shallow North end, also the creeks than run through the lake cross flats and drops which creates areas of good water.
During dingy times fish will bite on Bright colors and Black/blue at night.
Crappie are done, they have moved to Summer haunts and suspension. Feeding Patterns for most fish will be at night now (from dusk till dawn). Fishing will get tougher due to all the fry...If you can catch fish now....then you are a fisherman! lol

Water is perfect, was out Saturday caught a limit in short order, most were in the 10 inch range a few topped out at 12 1/2 ,, drop offs and ledges to deeper water are producing pretty good. Natural colors were working pretty good.

Out this morning from 730 till about 12,water temp was around 72 and the wind started up late morning. I didn't do to bad with 10 crappie landed six being keepers, four under 9" and one lost as well as a 10.5 in eye and my neighbor in his boat landed two with one being a keeper .Looks like a bunch of foam on the water this morning just north or the ramp, just wondering what it is and were it came from?
May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !
Keitech what bait is that the clear 1 with flat tail
