My dad and I went fishing in a N. KY creek just off the Ohio on Saturday. I went a few weeks back just before the cold spell and did real good on crappie there. But then the water temps were 57 degrees.

Yesterday - the water temp was a cool 42-43. The fish were moving slow but the bite got pretty good in mid afternoon, also after we realized just how slow we had to move that jig through the brush. Mainly caught them on Lake Fork Baby Shad near the bottom in 15-18 foot of water. We probably ended up with 30 crappie and most were a good size. Probably 10 of them at 11" or more. Last fish of the day for me - and my personal best in 10+ years of crappie fishing - was this white crappie that was just a hair under 14". He was fat and full of shad too. Great day to be on the water.
