It may seem off topic, but I'll circle back around....some of us love the water so much that we bring it into our homes.
I'll admit that I have a fish addiction....since I can't fish as often in winter I enjoy watching fish.
My experiment with my Oscars was a huge disaster, they killed 20 fish and armored cats...then at 6 inches they killed each other....I learned about predator fish and how they kill.
So in my 75 gallon, I decided to build a peaceful community tank, so I can watch fish relate to cover, feed, school, etc.
Then I built two five gallon tanks to raise Siamese Fighting Fish...they have always been my favorite freshwater tank predator...and I put one in the community.
I have 20 Neon Tetras, 20 Rasbora Haps, 8 Albino Corys, 2 Otto Cats, 20 Ghost Shrimp, and my white and red Betta. Then my Scarlett and Gray Betta lives with 5 Shrimp in his fg I've gallon...and Dale's Blue Betta is in his 5 with 2 Ottos.
Aquariums are a great tool to see how underwater environments evolve and function...most fish have the same basic patterns and needs....seeing how they function up close, brings an understanding of a larger environment.
The Bettas are killers, they need 100% protein....the Neons and Haps are too fast and are just trying to stay a step ahead of the Betta.
Seeing how they use the cover and open areas is a way to think about fishing while staying warm.
My next project is trying to figure out how to utilize my 220 gallon tank for Crappie, Walleye, perch, gills, and Smallies....or something close to that!
Good Fishing To All.
