Any one got their plans made for fishing trips this year? If so where are you going?

    I got

    March - Weiss ( crappie )
April - Buckeye or Indian ( crappie )
    May - Erie ( crappie )
    June - Erie ( walleye )
    July - Erie ( walleye / bass )

Loose plans for August but nothing set. Just interested to see where every ones going this year.

I am excited about my trip in April. I am joining some friends for a 1 week trip to Okeechobee Lake in south Florida. They have been going for years so they know the ropes. Be my first time at the "O". They mainly fish for Bream(bluegill) and they go to the everglades for Oscars also.
Will fish with one of my close fishing friends who lives in Deland on the St. Johns river, but ironically he has never fished this area either. He and I went to a very remote lake in Canada 2 years ago and it was a unique and productive trip but we camped on an uninhabited lake on an island. Forgot how much work camping was, so this time we are staying at the Anglers Inn in Clewiston.
He and I will spend a week at Santee Cooper (Lake Marion) in May, but that is old hat for us, Been doing that for 25 years or more.
Ready for some warmer weather. Yesterdays high was 29 and it went down to 12 last night.

    PS
Saw you were from Ohio. A few years back we trailered boats to Sandusky and took the ferry to Pelee Island and fished for Smallmouth and Walleye. We rented a house for a week right on the water there. After I caught and ate my first Walleye I did not care if I caught another bass!!

Sea Ray .... Sounds like some great times ahead for you...... I've also been Pelee island ( long time ago ) ...... From southern Ohio ..... We go to Erie multiple times a year...... Usually stay in the port Clinton area ...... Do more walleye fishing than anything up there, but the crappie and bass fishing is a lot of fun ....... Your right walleye are second to none far as taste. Steak of the lake...... Would really like to see Fla and lake O

Just my trip to Ky Lake in April. I'd like to try a few different lakes around here. I haven't been to Paint Creek in years, I always liked going there.

Thinking about going to kentucky lake in april as well. Never been there. Went to the boat show thursday to get some info on some places down there. not one person representing kentucky lake there. any suggestions crappie max, or anyone else as to places to stay around good fishing areas? was hoping to stay to the north end of the lake since that would be less travel to get there but open to other areas as well i guess.

    liprippersc78,
We always just camp when we go there. We stay at Hillman Ferry Campground, it's on the north end. It's located in Land Between the Lakes. We tent camp but we get sites with electric & water, we have all the comforts of home. There isn't much on the LBL except a few small items you can get at the camp store. For food and bait you have to leave to get somewhere else. As long as they have some ice cream I'm good. Last year they ran out of ice cream, it was awful. LBL is ran by the US Forest Service I believe.
Across the lake from Hillman Ferry is a place called Moors they have everything. I know they have cabins and camp sites & they may have rooms too. Check them out on the net. If the lake isn't too rough we run over there for bait & gas & ice cream. Ken Lake State Park is a nice place but the marina is a little drive from the cabins but not too bad. I stayed there with the wife once and we enjoyed it. Ky Dam Village is an option too. I never stayed there but have gone there and checked it out, it looked nice. There is a little campground across the road from Ken Lake State Park I wouldn't send a homeless guy too. I think it was state owned and it looked nasty but I haven't been by there in years
We camp because we just prefer it. The core group has been doing at least 1 annual trip for over 25 years so we all it's pretty routine at this point. If you are serious about going I would make reservations very soon, it will fill up. Even if you are going to camp I would make reservations, the campgrounds will fill up and it COULD be tough to find something with electric on the weekends.

There is a bait shop on the north end called Ken's Bait and Tackle. It's on SR 62. If you get down there, just going there is worth the trip. He has everything. That place is the most expensive part of the trip some years. LOL

If you want a guide I would contact Whiskers on the Ky board. That guys a fishing machine. He's just starting a guide service this year but he's booking up fast. Almost anywhere you go down there is pretty good but it's a big lake. Don't let the size intimidate you, just pick a bay and treat it like a lake back here. If you want or need more info send me a pm, I give you my ph #.

Ky Lake isn't what I'd call easy fishing but we get some big fish down there. April is a funny time, those fish can be anywhere form 2'-15' deep.
I love that lake, it's hard to leave some years.

I wanted to try KY Lake this year, but no camping for me!! Just need to find some folks to go. Probably end up like most years, I'll forget to do something and it'll be too late.
