I like fishing Salt Fork simply because I catch numbers there. I am not well versed on crappie yet, so I don't get a lot of big ones anywhere I fish. I do best at Salt Fork in the fall for some reason. I typically fish anywhere from 8-20 fow. Summer I like to use roadrunners. I try to learn more areas of the lake each trip out. I haven't been to Salt Fork this year for crappie, but hope to pretty soon.

Got a chance to fish for crappie at SF over the weekend, but not much of one since I had the family out with me most of the time. They want to catch fish when they're out and it doesn't matter what kind as long as we're catching fish. Cleaned 12 cats and I managed a carp that took an interest in a minnow. You'll have a hell of a time when a carp runs across 2 or 3 of your lines...what a messDoh.

On Saturday I fished one of the orange spots across from Sugar tree marina. Threw a crank across the spot and had a crappie on the first cast. Switched to a double rigging minnows under a float and had no luck. Moved down to a fallen tree and pulled in 10 crappie. Monday caught a few crappie around the main marina in 10 FOW over trees. Will try trolling crank baits or jigs next time.
