Default Our baby turned 18 today. Where did the timie go.

Boy is 20. Girl turned 18 today. Marsha and I waited quite a while to have kids. I'm 53!!!! Dang. Many of you know that Dayton got his Eagle Scout. Our daughter, Sydney has been a great student. And has prepared for college, including much community service that looks good on her records. He earned her EMT over the last year and is waiting to hear from the local rescue scuad about running with them. Working at ChickFilA. But she does have a boyfriend...........yuk..........but it happens. So far, so good.

My family has been tremendously blessed. By God, family, friends and strangers. I wish I could write a book about all the blessings. But the world would label it fiction, it would be so positive. Some times I get a little panic attack worrying that I'm consuming to much "Good" from the universe, and won't leave enough for my kids.

Seeing the news story about the young lady Gabby, who may have died at the hand of an abusive boyfriend, makes me hurt. I'm sad that anyone's daughter would put up with a partner that doesn't respect them, much less lay hands on them. Daughter is applying for colleges now. Her favorite will be 2 hours away from home. I don't know how you guys keep you sanity. I worry but then don't. I know in my heart that there is SO MUCH more good in this world of ours, then there is bad. Unless this girl goes boy crazy, chances are she is going to be just fine, and before we can blink, I pray she finds her biggest problem in day-to-day life will be what to have for dinner!! As we seem to have a tough time deciding these days. Hahahahahahaha.

If I have never shared the bus driver story with you, ask me when we see each other. It's a heck of a story. God, a guardian Angel and a school bus driver named Hal Moser, kept our son off the news, years ago when a mistake happened. Cub/Boy Scout gear does not belong at school and the media loves to spread bad news. Because of Mr. Moser, my kid never made the news. It was complicated, as the kid in the seat beside Dayton was the one to discover the item in a box of project supplies for class. Mr. Moser, who had recently retired from Chestefield Police, was his bus driver. Mr. Moser handled the situation. So, the media never got to tell the world about a mistake. Anyway, I"m rambling........sorry.

Today is a special day, and i have a long, long, long list of people who had a hand in my blessings. Heck, even you old timers here, set an example for my son every time he was around you. I saw it. I haven't forgotten it. I promise not to.

Hope to see many of you guys sometime soon.

    tight lines.

    Dayton

Good post Dayton. Sounds like you did a great job with them. Now prepare for the next stage, grandkids, nothing like them. #13 is due in a few days. More fishing buddies. I’ve had a blast with them all, so much joy seeing them catch a fish. I have gifted them on their 16th birthdays with a lifetime VA fishing license so far, hope I live long enough to do it for all of them.

Dayton you give a lot of credit to others which is due but the most should go to you and and your wife. Those kids would not have had the opportunities to interact with the positive influences without you two. You should stand tall. Sorry I had to do that.

Stand Tall eh? Just so you know. I planned so far ahead, that I deliberately stopped growing at 5' and saved it so my son could be 6'. So there.....................

Man, you posted this on 10/10....speaking of where'd the time go, 10/10 was my 17th wedding anniversary. To put it in perspective, I started posting on here just a year or two after I got married lol.

Ahh the days of Shoer posting cabbage patch kids in his garden and tapping the water surface with a paddle to call in the crappies
