Prayers lifted up for Scott
I saw my old fishing buddy Scott last week. I've known him 60 years this summer. Some of you might remember me posting about him and his stepson catching stunted crappie at Bayville Park and dumping them in drainage lakes and ponds all over Va. Beach and Chesapeake in the early 90's, he said they hit at least 40 spots. His stepson was about 10 at the time and Scott took a summer off to spend with him. Scott was one of 6 kids whose parents divorced when he was six, never had a father around, mom worked two or three jobs. Those kids raised each other. Now Scott is the only one left. He has been diagnosed with bone and prostate cancer and refused any treatment. I told him about Tap catching crappie out of one of those lakes, I'm pretty sure they stocked it because it's near where I use to live. He smiled and said maybe I did something right. Drugs and alcohol have been a big part of his life for awhile and I kind of avoided him for awhile trying to maintain my sobriety, maybe that wasn't the right thing to do.
Prayers lifted up for Scott
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
