Thread: My Dad

Sorry for you family loss Boscoe. While the sadness effects those left behind, I have to smile when I think of his first day in Heaven. Back to his old self, reunited with those that he watched leave here. The hugs and tears of joy as we are welcomed in. Just as he wil greet you when you go. I'm thankful for his service to this country and all of us in it. I reap the benefits of men and women like him everyday. After I finish screaming at my son about homework, and he stomps up to bed, I calm down and eventually smile, knowing that the biggest fear in his life is homework. Not terrorism nor war here at home. Your dad has my respect and graditude. The KBar memory is very fitting. Thanks for sharing that.

Please know that his service is respected. Last night we attended our local AAA team Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game. A group of 6 young kids stood by the mic and proudly sang our National Anthem. As the cheap guy I am, we were sitting up high. I always search for the one jack wagon that doesn't remove his hat. Guess what....I didn't see a single hat nor anyone sitting on their butt. Very nice. It was advertised as fireworks after the game. I was not ready as the kids got to the "Rockets red glare. The bombs bursting in air" line. From way behind right field a huge red flare crossed the ball field, accompanied by three big booms. As I watched the smoke dissipate, I looked at wife to see if she was as shocked and impressed as I was. She was already teary and I knew why. We are both lucky enough to not know the horror of war. Or what our heros go through. Nor the sacrifices of the families that support them, miss them, raise kids while they are away. Please know that his work did great things and we thank him.

May he rest in peace. I know you are proud of him.

So sorry to here of your loss. I spent a few weeks in that same hospital, recovering from wounds in Nam. Very good care I received. I for one am thankful of the wippins I received in my training years. I never thought he was so smart till I left home. To this day I thank him for it. As for Navy Chiefs they were our fathers then. I have many great memories of the chiefs I worked for. They are the back bone of the military.
