    Default Farmer's Weather rant

OK, I'll do this in the form of a question... Why in the hee7777 when it rains 2 1/2 inches earlier in the week and then Your told it will rain again in 4 days and You are only supposed to get .2 inches does it move in and rain for fricken 18 hours straight so far and getten 5 times what they said You would get???????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When we were getting the big rain on Tuesday morning, the forecast was for pretty much 14 days straight of pretty weather behind that rain. The very next day, they say that it now is going to rain on Saturday. NOAA said Friday that the bulk of the rain would be over by 2pm on Saturday. It is right at 3 am Easter Sunday Morning and it is still raining its butt off from return flow from a low pressure system on the coast to My south. These weather brains that predict Global warming and Climate change forecast that we are going to roast in 50 years but can't tell if its going to rain out 3 days?????????? I am sick of this weather and Think its time to protest. I can't get jack done on the farm and its driving me crazy. Going to mean some long hours when I get back to it. I went through this crap on wheat beans last summer. One year of it is about all I can take. Thought the weather broke a couple weeks ago but it was just a little break in this crap pattern that we are in and it looks like it is going to stay around another couple months. The rest of April and May are going to suck. Cold and wet. Sick of this crap! CF

Too good to be made up! I test EIFS clad houses for moisture damage. (Dryvit is one of the manufactures, and is what most people know it as). Monday mornings I have a couple of voice mails from people who buying or selling and have had agents tell them an inspection is recommended. First call is a seller, I recognize the name and ask are you the weatherman on station "X", he says yes. After going through inspection procedures and cost he says he doesn't start work till noon on Wednesday, so I tell him I'll be there Wednesday morning if it's not raining. He asks "do you think it's going to rain?" I set the phone down to keep from laughing in his ear. He says "well you know we're lucky if we get it right half the time." I tell him if I was only right half the time my boss would be bankrupt from the lawsuits or worse somebody could die from a building or a bridge falling down on them.

Boscoe, I remember an old weatherman that used to be on WNCT 9 out of Greenville NC used to say everyday in the summer there was always at least a 30% chance of rain. Talk about CYA. But I respected him for doing that as that made it clear that they could not predict but so good. Now they promote forecasting like they know exactly what it is going to do as compared to those days. They don't know anymore now than they did then and just read off of what a couple different computer models are saying and then regurgitate what the models say. Heck, anybody could do that. I look for rings around the sun and moon now and look for sun dogs. If you see any of those, it is going to rain within 2 days. It won't forecast the amount, but it is a sure bet.CF

It is 4:15 PM Easter Sunday and still raining. 26 hours after NOAA said it was going to taper off. Maybe I need to listen to NOAH and quit listening to NOAA. Last Tuesday, they said it would be a beautiful weekend. I guess their idea of beautiful is a Nor'easter with winds right at gale force at times.CF

Ed I feel your pain. I am no tiller of the land like you, but I have been trying since March to get the boat out to fish. One nice weekend and my parents are in town for my birthday. Go figure, then I see the weather report and plan to smoke some ribs for Easter and I get blown out of my back yard. I live about a half mile from the sound, and it gets really ugly being this close to the water. I hear more people complaining about this year than any in the previous years. Even the weather channel had it all wrong.

if I was a young man id learn to be a meteorologist- my work & play is weather dependent- that's the only profession I ever seen where you can take a guess & if you miss say "oh well" & its ok- only thing I trust is getting up in the morning & sticking your head out the door to see what its like!
My wife swears I only do enough surveying to support my hunting & fishing because I'm too busy hunting & fishing !
