Wes what does this mean for waterfowl? I mean the Feds only give us but so many days to hunt so if it goes into effect does that take days off the season? I am not sure Sunday hunting is a great idea..

Bennett as far as i know the fed frame work is the same and va will give us the same amount of days, and has the option to make the season end at the same late date in jan.some like that, big water and field hunters, marsh and swamp hunters dont like the ice late season.i make do and hunt some of all of it and like the season ending late in jan.thinking that it will end a week earlier now but just a guess.i did great late this year on the bay shore and fields mostly geese and some ducks, not sure i like Sunday hunting i fished Sunday and some places the duck hunters not being there was why i went there on Sundays but gonna make the best of it

The feds will still give VA 60 days to waterfowl hunt, and VA will still probably divide it into 3 splits. You will be wood duck hunting the first or second Sat in Oct and you will be duck hunting the last Sat in Jan. Most likely they will lengthen the time between splits by a few days. Either way you will still have 60 days to duck hunt and the dates will generally be the same. You just will be able to hunt on Sundays.

I think there will be a lot of stuff to go over. Right now the law is for private land only. So I wonder what that means for waterfowl hunters that are hunting on "public" waterways? My guess is we will see this stuff phased in. There are lots of details to iron out. I do like to have the option to hunt on Sunday, but I don't know if I will.

I don't hunt. But have been on the NWr and mad hunters at me for going by them pushing jigs. The water is open to all and I know it. Fishing on Sundays was an option to me to not bother them, or they bother me. I am NO way anti gun but hunters on the water is kind of bothering.

Here we go. Pastor good morning everyone can we bow our heads in prayer. Midway through prayer POW POW POW POW POW some people run out side to see what the shooting is all about only to see a Deer falling dead in the parking lot. OK some of you think i am full of chit but one of the BIGGEST BUCKS i have ever seen taken in Surry Co was taken in a Church parking lot yes true story. Glad i do not hunt anymore. This Sunday hunting is going to be interesting.

the big folks that own massive amounts of land way out in the country are most likely church going, god fearing people that wont allow hunting on sundays anyhow. All this did is open up a can of worms.

Just one scenario, and not too far fetched either... I hunt saturday all day with hounds. My hound gets on another large piece of property that afternoon and I cant get to him. Hes full of energy because I did not hunt him saturday morning and he ends up running deer darn near all night. I choose to leave the hound si I can get some sleep. I go back sunday morning to find my dog, I track the dog with my electronics/gps system, get close enough to him to holler and call him back to the truck. He starts coming but falls right on a deer as he was coming back to me. He runs the deer across the dirt road that I am on....

Here is where it WILL get tricky, I have my gun in the truck, I CANT shoot this deer because my dog is running it.
I CAN get a ticket for dog hunting deer on sunday, BUT the hunter who is sitting in his/her tree stand "still hunting" Sunday morning CAN SHOOT THIS DEER. This will be a HUGE problem as it happens often. OR the still hunter will be MAD at the dog and dog owner for (in my most wussy whiny voice) "ruining my hunt and chasing all the deer away" and shoot the dog.

The biggest problem is that hunting on Sunday could possible interfere with fishing on Sunday.
