Default Monthly vehicle inspections in Virginia in the 80's?

My wife is telling me that she recalls having to pay $1 for monthly vehicle inspections here in Virginia Beach. I find this hard to believe. I've been here since 87 so it would have to of been before that. Anyone know?

Been driving in Va since 70, used to be 6 month requirement then, think it was $2.00. As a side note employer's insurance did our DMV record check last week, asked if it was realy true that I've nver had a moving violation in the 15 years I worked there? I told them I drive an average of 25,000 miles a year for 42 years now and have never had a moving violation!

Walking isn't crowded.. Good for you too..

Never had a buggy but had a couple of TN Walkers that were smooth & could move at a fast pace. Probably too fast for you.

I was also here in the mid 60's but I don't remember the cost. That may be when they started it.
