    Default Dinner!!!!


    Was out grilling burgers last night. Kept hearing a squirrel barking and running around a tree like crazy behind me. Turned around and seen why. This hawk had dropped down in her nest and was picking up dinner. Was able to go in the house and get my camera to take a few shots. The hawk was in no hurry. It sat in the nest and ate. Look closely in the first picture and you can see the squirrel in its talons. When it was done eating it flew to a nearby tree to let it's food settle down. Been seeing a pair in the neighborhood but first time I seen one picking up dinner.

    Hawks have been frequent visitors here in recent years, too. No doubt, they're attracted by all the vermin that's hopping around all over the place. My guess is that the hawks are taking over the duties that used to be performed by neighborhood cats.

    great pictures roy. my wife feeds the birds in our backyard and she kept seeing bird feathers around the feeder and was not sure what was eating her birds till one afternoon i saw what was going on. hawks eat other birds to. wish i had taken pictures. i like to watch hawks on the highways also. tite lines JIM.B
