Default Me, the Gracie's and the UFC-what I do when I am not fishing.

I recently attended a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (which I have been studying for over 15 years now) seminar with Ryron Gracie. (pronounced he-ron, the first r is pronounced as an h in Brazil) Ryron is the son of Rorion Gracie who is the man that organized UFC 1. Royce Gracie who won three of the fist four UFC's is Ryon's Uncle. I also attended a seminar with Rener Gracie a few years ago, he is the older brother of Ryron.

Ryron is dead center and his flanked by 6 black belts including myself. I am second from the left sitting.

    A close up.

I have been slacking in the world of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as work as been keeping me busy and I run 4 miles three times a week and hit the gym three times a week as well. I have been only training in BJJ once a week at best but need to get back to going in twice a week. Not sure how I am going to fit this all in but where there is a will there is a way.

I have been fortunate enough to train with three fighters that have fought in the UFC. Mackens Semezier who just today at a different seminar (Pedro Sauer) received his black belt, Brandon Vera who is from Norfolk now living in California, and Mike Van Arsdale who was in town briefly.

For those who know me you can see that my Jiu Jitsu smile is the same as my fishing smile.

thats way cool Tap, I love the ufc and the ground fighting of bjj also. I thought that was great when silva got clocked while showboating, best thing that ever happened to him. I like to see the fighters that show respect for their opponents.

Dang George you're just as dark as the brazilians! Pretty cool! Your wife must be a very understanding and independent woman. It's all I can do to fit in work and a weekly 3 hour fishing trip... You know what they say, Rolling stone gathers no moss.

This is from a Pedro Sauer seminar two days later. Pedro Sauer is a black/red belt who received his black belt from Rickson Gracie.

I won't tell you which one but one of the guys in this pic is a former member of the elite SEAL Team 6, also known as DEVGRU. (he is retired but still goes off to play if you know what I mean)

Wild guess the guy in the back row just to the left of the guy with the red shirt.

Nope. Over my 15 years + training BJJ at Linxx (owner is former SEAL) I have learned you cannot spot a SEAL by looks, however, I could tell when I trained with them as they are all cut from the same mold.
