    Default Igfa

You caught the fish Hands Clapping. The "official" written rules are set by the IGFA. I recall the rule states once the fish is hooked and on line, only one person can touch the fishing rod or reel. Assistance can be used to gaff or net the fish. Don't think the state rules mention any reference to the above.
Charter boat example, the mate can bait and set out lures to begin fishing. Once the rod is placed in a rod holder it's the person that picks up the rod from the holder when the fish is hooked is the person who is considered the angler who catches the fish. So if the mate hands you the rod it's a infraction to the rule. Now would a good friend or capt. tell:rolleyes:
