Certainly makes one wonder
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
gomer, bad enough to have to pay them, but they make you suffer to do it. Fraid it will never get better.
I’m a cpa. No way would I pay that fine and then ask for a refund. At the very least, if you can’t find the proof of mailing on time - the partnership
Return, I mean..not the individual return, I would right a letter protesting that you did mail on time and even if you can’t prove it, you are asking for a one time waiver from the penalty on the basis that you have never been late before and the IRS offers a one time waiver for taxpayers who have never been late. There is also a rule that if the partners individual returns were filed before 4/15 but the partnership return was filed late, there is no penalty because there is no “harm” to the IRS.

what folks don't realize about the IRS is they are just a bunch of clerks many without degrees in any accounting or finance and beauracrats. I was taught to be very aggressive from getgo by an ancient accountant who educated me on how things work and I have been audited multiple times but always had my documents and actually I am wierd enough guy that thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they ALWAYS sent me a check after. then they left me alone. those letters you get are often computer generated and don't mean much as you can simply write back with the truth IF you have filed and they usually go away. Too many folks simply buckle as they freak when getting one and pay those stupid fines which are real hard to get back even if they are as Fake as the MSM are.
