If you can find a sawmill in your area....get some cypress 2x4's
I know its been discussed before and I know not to replace trailer bunks with pressure treated lumber on a aluminum boat, so what wood is best to use and where can I find it. Mine are just the standard 2x4!
Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard that but if you use outdoor carpet on your bunks I don’t see the problem. The carpet has a rubber backing and unless you wear the carpet out the wood never touches the aluminum.

Cypress is hard to come by... what about a hardwood 2x4?

Educate me, what’s the reason for not using a standard pressure treated 2x4?
The chemicals used in the treating process will damage the aluminum

Erin, go get some of them plastic boards and if you don’t want slick just glue carpet on top and staple on sides. Never have to worry about it again.
Where can the plastic boards be found? I can’t find cypress anywhere

Lowe’s and Home Depot both keep a pretty good stock. Guy just brought out some 1 by 2 trim board and 1 by 8 board to do some trim work on house this morning from Lowe’s. I know they have 2+4 but not sure on 2+6
