Default Deer Hunting / Numbers hunting .

I am curious as to how many have altered the way you harvest deer due to Cwd . I have seen less hunters for sure where I hunt . I have been informed that No one in my family (all of whom I have supplied with venison) no longer want any . I have seen 17 does and 3 bucks (1 state legal ) and yet to fire a shot . We used to give meat to "Hunters against Hunger" and to Children 's village near Water Valley . Can anyone verify these , if they still exist , still take deer meat . I have hunted my entire life but see little to no reason to pay for a lease to hunt large deer where they truly don't exist .I Will ground up a couple for my own use hopefully before season ends but most likely will hunt public land next year .

No change for me...except I have not hunted as much because of sickness and weather..I harvest 3 a year because of my Wife's. Cancer, and heart condition...I harvested two good does. And an 8 point...all three had a great amount of fat..All 3 harvested in Pontotoc county..All 3 checked clear for CWD

Here, so far the four they have found with MS testing has been confirmed by out-of-state testing, no reason to think negative results would not be the same way.
I have not been the first time in North Mississippi but have hunted some in Kemper County, those deer down there are in real good shape and bigger for their age too.

I haven't been able to get into this year for some reason, nothing to do with CWD. I bow hunted once and have rifle hunted a handful of times. Been busy with work this fall / winter and any free time I get I been spending it on the water. At least with fishing there is no rush to get up and get to the lake, don't have to be on the water before daylight.

Been several times and hasn't stopped us from harvesting a doe and buck. We have got them tested but the results are still pending.

This was the first year my county was on the “watch” list. I still hunted and harvested 3 deer. The conservation department had mandatory testing the first weekend of firearms season. No deer from our part of the state tested positive. I’ll keep hunting until the problem becomes more prevalent locally

Talked to my neighbor that lives just below my house. Just below him is the cold water river bottoms. Friday he had a young buck laying in his yard, he went out and walked right up to it before it even stood up but it didn’t run off. He figured something was wrong with it so he called warden. By the time warden got out here it had wandered below his place just a little but he walked back up to it again. Warden decided they needed to dispatch it because something was definitely wrong with it. When using horns to help lift in wardens truck horn came off in his hand. Warden told him to check back in a few days to find out if it was positive or not. Warden told him they really wanted this one because it is the closest one to Tenn line they have encountered.
