They say you can make data say whatever you want to. If 50% of those fishermen fished during the spawn, feb 15-May 15, that would be approximately 66,000 fishermen on the water sometimes during those three months spread out over how many lakes I don’t know. Scientific, no. But pretty good numbers to assume spring fishing can and will often be crowded.
Are they all on crappie.com- don’t think so. But I do admit I can tell when the fish are biting by going to the site and pictures ain’t the main evidence. Does it play a roll yes but imo just a very small one. Consider this, if 50 fishermen on the lake tell only 2 of their buds about a good catch now a hundred know. Will all of them be quiet. Nope. Doesn’t work that way. Even when I didn’t fish I knew often times when the fish were biting. This is a hunting and fishing culture, people just know. Should we ask the guides not to advertise? Should we stop the game and fish and the tourism commission from advertising. What about the chambers of commerce? Have you ever called someone and asked if the fish are biting? I just don’t think numbers at the ramp can be contributed all to one very very small piece of communication. I respect all of your views and what I’ve posted here is no more scientifically valid than your posts. A lot of licenses tho.
