One of my bucketlist things to do is go to Alaska and catch some fresh Salmon to eat shoreside(and hopefully vacuum seal a bunch to bring home.

You wouldn't regret it, the only time I've ever been north of the Mason-Dixon line was a trip to Alaska in 1997. We drove from Anchorage / Eagle River down Highway 1 to Soldotna and booked a guide on the Kenai river, we just missed the king salmon run, but got to troll spoon baits for silvers and had a great time. It's beautiful country up there for sure, we traveled on down to Homer, AK and was going to take a charter out for Halibut but the two days we were there the seas were to rough and no boats went out. We didn't get to do the shore lunch thing, but that would be awesome. Hope to get back one day, would love to go after a black bear or better yet a Kodiak before my time is up.

We usually bake them in the oven till they start to get flakey but still moist in the middle. Season with white wine, salt, white pepper, dehydrated onions, lemon juice, white worchester. I have grilled them also but the oven is more consistent. I may try to smoke some of these.
