Changed my hushpuppies tonight
Added a lot of shredded cheese to them. It got crispy on the outside. Fried crappie, fries n jalapeņo n cheese hush puppies.

We've been putting graded sharp cheddar and onion in our hush puppies for at least 40 years. The cheese isn't only good in them but helps them stay moist too. Good job, looks great.

How big a batch of puppies do you make? A batch for me is 15-16 puppies, that's a 1.5 tablespoon size melon scoop.

Bout the same here. Tried to copy my recipe but it wouldn't let me on my phone. Made the batter up and added about a 1/4 or so of that same amount in cheese.
