    Default Habitat day

Let's post all of them here instead of having a thread for each lake.
If you want to do a group thing at a lake and have other's help post it here too.
Maybe a mod will help group them in one listing.

Enid Lake Feb 3, 2018. Meet at office, north end of dam at 7 am.

Artabutla Lake Feb. 17, 2018. Meet at field office south end of dam at 7 am.

Grenada Lake Feb 24, 2018. As of now I don't have the time and location.

Don't say I'm just not able. You work at your own pace and there are easier jobs for the older you get. If enough folks
show up, the work is usually done in 4 to 4 1/2 hours. They usually have the brush stacked at the locations it is to be
put out at. Some will hook brush to an ATV, the ATV will drag it to one of the red flags the Game & Fish has positioned,
and drop it off along with an anchor. People will mosey from pile to pile and tie the brush to the anchor with aluminum
wire. Sometimes the Corps personal will drive cross stakes in the piles to insure they stay put. Some volunteers will also
drive stakes in the ground with pole drivers. There is something for anyone who wants to help to do without suffering
from it for a week or two. If you bring an ATV, you will have to have a helmet for you and any passengers. There is a meal
and a drawing for prizes around noon. It's a good time. Come out and give a little back.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

Don, when I read your commit I hadn't been to facebook yet. So I did a second window to check for pm replies. It was posted at 6:55 pm.
On facebook I have each lake on my feed. When lake levels are posted I get them. Any special event I get them too. Some are daily, weekly and sometimes almost never.

Sardis Lake Feb 10 As of now I don't have the time and location.

stormcloud, Enid is the only one so far that use aluminum wire in my years of doing this. It's a lot better than the poly cord used at the others.
At Grenada they use mostly stakes. There's a lot of stakes in a bundle. We started with 6 and a ranger went after 4 more.
If you can collect material and deliver before or on habitat day that will help. If a donor needs a tax number contact the lake's manager.
For some reason there are more volunteers at Enid that help collect prizes and prep a meal. My first trip there it was nasty, almost didn't go, 138 signed the book. Another year there were 234 on the book.
Last year Sardis was late about setting a date, same date as Grenada. There were 3 of us, 15/20 rangers and wildlife officers. We met at Holiday Lodge, had a breakfast, stopped for lunch at the lodge then back to work.
It's a fun day of work and would like to see more c.c members at them.

if everyone that actually fished a stake bed or man made brush pile would just put one single bed out it would be great! Right now you have 30 guys placing structure and 3,500 fishing it. I wouldn't expect the guys coming for a week to do something but the local guys and the every month vacationers need to jump on this habitat band wagon. These lakes are loosing habitat every single year because of the draw down. Lots of fish will be caught off of the habitat you make but most importantly we are trying to ensure good spawns year after year.

I've heard other's say, man I was catching a boat load off this brush pile last year. Looking at the fish finder I see that it's almost gone, I wonder what happened to it.
It doesn't take much to add/rebuild an old pile or build a new one. It's almost fun.
I've worked these habitat days and never return to fish or my chance to fish the pile is out of water. Well I helped someone else and maybe the fish.

That would be great if more folks pitched in. I have been down this stake bed building road for several years most folks see stake bed building as helping out the single pole guys they don't see the big picture of how the fish benefit from it. Or maybe they just lazy and hopes someone else does it
