    Default Road Trip

Headed north on I-55 I had to go to the left lane for a MO truck and boat trailer at the Grenada exit. Debbie says those are some tiny wheels on that trailer for that size boat. They look to be 10" maybe 12" wheels pulled with 17 or above on the truck to me. A few miles later they pass us and soon out of sight, we're traveling at 70 mph. We have a planned stop at the rest area north of Courtland to meet up with the kids. Just before the bridge just south of the rest area there are smoking gators on the asphalt. North side of the bridge there is the MO truck with a blown tire on the trailer. After our family meet I see the rig back on the road headed north.

It has always amazed me how some folks know every tiny detail of a boat they order but just have the dealer throw that same boat on any trailer the dealer happens to have laying around. I see HUGE cigarette boats up here on trailers that look like a 16 foot bass tracker would overload.

Yep, he is lucky he didn't lose the truck & boat sounds like he was doing 90mph! That seems to be the common speed on the interstate now days, I drive from 72 - 75 most times and you would think I was a tortoise! I have found for the most part on the local lakes, the fancier the boat the less experienced the operator!

Hey snubbys, around here they also are the ones pulling a 60 grand boat with an 80 grand truck gripping about paying a private ramp owner 5 bucks to launch their rig in a safe secure area. They seem to overlook the time and effort some resort owners put in ramp care and secure parking facilities.

My boat is a pig on its single axle trailer. When I bought the new tires, I sprang for the 10 ply. I can pull it 70, but 60 is about as fast as I want to go...

One blowout or a road hazard hit at 60-70 and you might need another boat. That's a dangerous trailer for that rig 10 ply tires or not. Just a heads up. It may not even be legal nowadays. Some states now require a tandem axle trailer on any boat over 22' long.

1650 dry weight, prolly 1900 loaded. Put that on 3500 lb axle and it is ok. Close, but ok.
