I grew about 40 from acorns that are about 6 yrs old now. Some of them are over 20 ft tall now. They grow very fast when you fertilize and water them. I should have acorns on some of the bigger ones this year.

Thanks. I have another spot I planted Dunston Chestnuts. It's about 100 yards from the sawtooth. Be real good during bow season

Food plots for crappie? I didn't know they liked acorns. I swear I learn something everyday!

I planted 75 swamp chestnut oaks this spring and have naturally lots of chinkapin, white, and reds. Was unfamiliar with the sawtooth oak so just read a few QDM articles. It has mixed reviews-some good and some not so good.Your starts are coming along good DonDon.
Bowhunting here the deer prefer the swamp chestnut oaks and chinkapins over all others. The other, less preferable ,are still important for later in the year though.
The dunstons are rated very well and I hope to get some planted.QDM always stresses the importance of diversity and is a good info source...

Have you had any experience with chickasaw saw plums? I do not but QDM seems to like them.Just wondering about them.

My understanding on the plum is it's what we see on the side of dirt roads, just a wild plum. I planed a couple this year. Those and a couple of mulberrys
