Default Gulf Shores AL red fish?

I'm going to be down there mid-July and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a reasonable person to go red fishing with?

Biggest crappie to date is 3 lb 9 oz at grenada in 1988. Still hangs on my wall.

We have used Pensacola fishing, Orange Beach fishing, Perdido Key fishing, Gulf Shores fishing, Navarre Beach fishing, and Pensacola Beach fishing inshore guided fishing trips with Capt Wes Rozier. We launched out of Perdido and had a very good trip. We also fished with a guide named Brad King (South Again Charters) and caught fish (including red snapper near inshore and then hit the bays). Both guides very worked hard for us. Look at: Inshore Charter Reports - Pensacola Fishing Forum for inshore guide trip reviews. Most inshore guides will cover Alabama as well. Also see: Gulf Coast Fishing Connection. Also, you may want to call these tackle shops (J & M Tackle & The Rod Room) and ask for recommendations. check out this post: Heading to Perdido Beach for First time

We liked the Mississippi limits better and started using Shore Thing in Bay St. Louis for the last 5 to 6 years. This group is hard to beat. We usually book 2 trips each summer. We can go drive down on a Friday night, fish Saturday and be home about 7 PM. If you go to their webpage, also look at the Cat Island house.

    I hope this helps.

Better call and set something up real soon or they'll all be booked up

I've fished with Rozier. He's a nice guy. He'll generally find some kind of fish to catch. I've pulled big Mann crankbaits with him to catch bull reds in Pensacola Bay. Don't expect big numbers.

Some bull red fishing right there at Fort Morgan. Take your boat, catch some crabs and hit the channel starting at the point. Cracked crab is like candy to those big suckers

Don't forget to drift over the Dixie Bar, like trolling but let the tide do the work.

Thanks! For all the suggestions. Just got my mother home from the hospital so I'm a little behind.

Better be careful drifting over Dixie Bar with a hard outgoing tide. Sucker will toss you around like a rag doll

What size line do you spool your reels with for general fishing? We'll be headed to the gulf later.
