Not the eating kind, but the fish attracting kind. Looks like we may have a slow day Friday so me and the boys may build some crappie condos at the shop.

Check with a lumber yard. They will give them to you. I use to get mine over on President's Island. Don't remember the name, but on Harbor Ave.

Know its a few miles for you to drive. But theres a hickory handle mill in Crump Tn. I think they charge $40 per bundle. These are around 4ft long full 2.5" I think been a while. I used to burn a bundle when I used the big offset smoker. Burn them down to coals to keep that baby fired up. They bundle them into big bundles. One will fill a pickup truck bed full. I have hauled 3 on a 16ft Car hauler trailer.
These will have bark or a bad spot. So there seconds, can't make a sledge hammer handle out of them. Everyone around here uses these for Smoking BBQ. But when they have them, will sell to anyone. Not bad for hickory and there ready to drive into the ground. Plan on picking up 4 bundles to put in this winter.
I may have to go get a big load. Take them south and set up. Sell them to poor crappie guys around Sardis, Enid and Grenada.. Or for the waypoints might haul a couple bundles down.
Also check with lumber sheds, they will at times give you the pieces that lumber are stacked on. These are most times 2x2's and 4ft long. I have seen some yards burn a truck load that was stacked up. I have around 3500 10ft pieces of 1/2", 3/4" 1" and 3" PVC, that I bought for this. Found a steal and got all that for I think $225. And have made thousands of Kay Bobbers out of it also. So the rest will be a tax write off and go into Yellow creek, Dry creek and the main lake this winter. Plan on taking 3 to 5 each time I head out fishing.
Anyone ever drive these into the lake like the wood sticks? I know a guy that did Bambo that way. So the PVC should work.

Thanks, will do some calling around. I can get mater stakes for $50 a bundle of 100 each 8 ft long. But free is always good.. and daggum ShilohRed if my math is correct that's over 6 1/2 miles of PVC.. some guys have all the luck. Pvc or bamboo would be ideal, but do like the hickory tip in Crump also.
