    Default spider rigging vs longlining

I understand the difference in spider rigging and longlining but, when do you use one over the other? What are the pros and cons of each?

When the fish are scattered, longline. Cover more water. When they start to school, spider rig. Stay in the fish longer. Give or
take .8 on longline, .4 or slower on spider rigging.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

Power Trolling. Just pushing minners faster. Gives you the option to slow it down also. One technique two ways to use it.

Winter time tight line spring summer and fall longline to cover more water.

I'm always the weird one. I like to Power Troll up front with a couple of long line rods in the rear with the jigs suspended beneath a 3/8oz torpedo float. Gives you the option of stopping or slowing down without hanging up your rear jigs.

Is there any difference in the depth when fishing one over the other or is it just speed?

I do this all the time. I don't use the floats tho.
