Default Sprayed my bunks with silicone this week.

Mr Goodtime passed that tip to me last year and it works. I couldn't power up to the winch brace. Was having to go in with force, often too much. Now I just let her float in easy and nestle in straight coming to a stop, give her a little power and she slides right up. Works like a charm.

That's good to know. I back down far enough for it to load easy but to work the winch I have to stand in the water to hook it or stand on the tongue and stand on my head. Getting a little old to be standing on my head these days.
How often do you have to spray?

Exactly how did you do this, and exactly what did you use? Sounds interesting

Have the guy that gets the Trailer spray them before he backs in. I bought some at Napa for 3.99 a can. I now use vinyl. I bought some 4x4 vinyl fence post and ripped in half. Put them on over the carpet and put a few screws on the sides. You can idle right to the Bow Roller. I did 36 foot of bunk for $60.00

Can it be used with a glass boat? And what kind of spray are you using?

I have done this for previous aluminum hulls. But would the vinyl damage a glass hull?

I use the "trailer slicks" from Cabelas. Just got a set for this boat. Have not put them on yet, but they worked really well on my previous boats.

You can go to WalMart and buy the HDPE cutting boards, cut them in strips and screw then to the bunks. Just be careful backing down without the winch attached or you will unload it on the ramp.

This is especially true with glass boats. My first time using the slicks was on a light fiberglass bass boat. My buddy did not know I had installed them and he unhooked my strap without me knowing it and it came within a foot of launching it in the parking lot the first time I touched the brake.
My last boat was aluminum and they are not as bad to slide off, but much easier than without them.

Use liquid roller. I have a 23 flat bottom bay rider and I only have to the rear wheels in the water. This works so good I have to put the boat in gear to hold it on the trailer to unhook the strap. Same thing when loading. Only put rear wheels in the water and I drive right up. Only have to apply about twice a year. Make sure that you don't unhook the strap until you are at the water. Good luck this is the best I have found!
