Too funny!!
Years ago, Browning had just came out with Boron rods. You know price is no object for the typical bass fisherman even though the rod was about 10X the hourly rate most of us were making then. A buddy had just bought one and was trying it out for the 1st time on a trip to Lake Jackson in Ga, near where we lived at the time. We were throwing crankbaits to a point that was known to have a bunch of structure, both natural and man-made. My buddy hung up his crank and pushed his new boron rod down to the hang-up to try to push it loose. All of a sudden he realized the rod was hung also. This was in cold weather and the water temp was probably in the mid 40s. Right then and there he stripped off to his tighty-whiteys and eased over the side into the depths. He went completely under and came up with the most awful mess of old line, trotlines, garbage, you name it. Ends up the rod tip was hung in a BED SPRINGS!! He brought the whole load of crap up and we got the rod tip loose. He then dropped it all back where he found it minus the boron rod. I would say to this day he has not done that fiasco again.
