    Default Fish finder Help

The Lowrance Elite models are slow to update. I'm a Lowrance guy, but in this case, I'd go with the HB Helix models. Faster Proccessor. Not familiar with the Garmin, but I'm looking at their new PanOptics units for my new demo. They make those up to a 16" screen. Talk about watching TV!!! Fish finder Help

If you can, go to a BPS or Cabelas and play with all of the different units and pick the one YOU like best.

I'm buying the 5. Waiting to see if I can find one on Black Friday. Amazon has the best price I've found with free shipping and no tax. $328.

Man get you a glass bottom boat. That way you know for sure you are seeing fish or not. The way these sonar companies are advancing nowadays by the time one comes out a better one is on the shelf. I know that most of the people that bought the helix 5 wishes now they would have waited for the bigger screen ones to hit the market. I have read a lots on the different sonars and as a rule of thumb buy the biggest and most advance that you can afford or you will wish you had later. I am still using the older models and waiting till everyone gets the newer ones. Then I may jump on(buy) their older models as they get rid of them at a cheaper price.
Be safe and good luck fishing

That holds a lot of truth. That's why I've never paid more $100 for something. I just needed one to keep from running aground. I think sometimes people spend too much time with that and fancy rigs instead of just fishing and catching fish. Something to be said for outsmarting oneself.
