XL is only a foot bigger, just cant make myself pay twice as much for the 9 footer over the 8 footer.

Not sure what math u are using breaker but the XL version are 56 each on sale. Rees, the 9ft version is somewhat more but it does cover 28 percent more area than the 8ft version. All these umbrellas are well worth the money and make a miserable day rather enjoyable in most cases.
