    White crappie....shorter dorsal fin with 6 spines........Black Crappie longer dorsal fin and has 7 or 8 spines

    Then what are they??? the lighter colored one is 14 inches, one of the darker ones is 14 inches but there is an inch difference from their bellies to the top of their backs, would think that would be where they were tall. Accross the back is thicker on the darker fesh as well, heck if I know they just different but maybe they the same but them darker ones is TALLER.

    that's exactly right, g............you can tell by the dorsal fins, and the mouth is a little smaller on the black crappie, to me.

    rees, i think color has to do with water clarity, the darker ones may have been in a little clearer water than the light one, jmo, lol.

    Wide. You got to have feets to be tall and taller.

    In crappie language, you got long or short, thick or thin wide or narrow. Not TALL.

    You can see about 10 foot deeper all over this lake Duck, the darker ones did come out of deeper water but laying side by side they look different is all I know.
    Minner, them darker ones is wider than that lighter one.
