Minner is on the money. Anything relative to fishing should be on the fishing page. OT is meant for anything beyond fishing.

While I have a minute, what's up with "Not kid friendly"? How many kid members do we have over here in Mississippi? How many kids are posting? How many kid members does the site have at all?

I noticed that a "Kids forum" was started a couple months ago. In two months the forum has had 192 post, none of which are from kids, and a third of which where coaxed by a contest of some sort. Only parents and grandparents talking about their kids.

It appears that we don't have a bunch of kids hanging around clinging to every word that gets said. So why should a group of adults have to speak as if there are kids in the room at all times? Don't get me wrong, I have kids just like everybody else, and I don't want them reading a bunch of adult language, but just like everybody elses kids, my kids aren't posting on this site.

What about kids that aren't members but may still be looking at site? My suggestion is for non-members to only have visibility to the Main page, which should contain anything and everything realitive to fishing. Offtopic should only be accessed by members (grown-ups) that are logged into their account. I'm not suggesting that F bombs and other extreme vulgarities be permitted, but if offtopic were only accessable by grownups, then the grownups wouldn't be expected to speak like children at all times.

I humbly disagree Minner, if you can curve the BS on the Main Ms board then it can be curved here as well when a question is ask. If you want input and an answer off topic is the place to get it, tried the other way last year and didnt get near the response on the main board. Heck the other day on the main board a man posted a pic of one heck of a mess a fish and at least 50% of the comments were internet police questioning where he caught em and how many folks was in the boat and everything else. None of us know him that I know of but yet "we" questioned him to death about his trip.(I say we because I am a part of this board) Ifn someone is proud enuff to post a picture or thinks enuff of this or any other board on Crappie.com to ask a question treat em with respect. I was taught respect is used until someone proves they dont deserve it and at that point just leave that person alone.
We have a good thing here but it dont all have to be BS, plenty of BS threads here for sure.

ES while I agree with you, I do understand slabs view too. This is his baby/company/he's the owner. He pays the bills to keep this site up to pay his bills if it were mine, I'd run it like I wanted it ran. Most company owner run Thor companies like that. Unless they're a union shop and them the company owners get told how they gonna do it(but that's another story fer another day). The problem ain't the kf stuff. It's gewbers that get their feelins hurt cause they can't understand why they're being picked on. I used to get really pissed at DD(when he was funny) and WB. Then I finally figured out they meant no harm, they jus wanted a buffay and they loved to see me sweat cause I couldn't take it. Once I started lettin it roll off my back and smackin back, in a responsible way of course, they seemed like purty good fellers. Course buyin buffays gottem off my arse some. Does this make sense?

Minner, I agree with you again. Slab can and will run his site however he pleases. My suggestion doesn't necessarily touch on the thin-skin issue so much, but it pertains more to adult humor being allowed if kept in it's place. Somebody posted a really funny photo chop of another member the other day as an aborigine. This aborigine was wearing a little thing over his stuff (which is what aborigines really wear, look in a National Geographic) (no anatomy was revealed), and the thread got completely yanked. Not for a personal attack, but for being "not kid friendly". Lots of funny material and jokes are being slashed

Familiarity breeds contempt. And I don't think any "let's all be nice" threads are going to change any of that. Prolly the best you can hope for is more gatherings so people get to know each other. It's jar to be mean to somebody when they've bought you a boofey.

I genuinely admire a few here, like a few more, tolerate some, don't care for a few, but I get along with everyone. Much the same as in real life. That said, I poke at everyone and I you take offense, your doing this all wrong. I don't take myself seriously, so why should you.

and to add my

--the only reason I joined c.com was because of the OT board--was the absolute funniest thing I had ever seen but did realize where and how to get my real questions answered and it has worked out great. OT for fun all the others for knowledge. All relationships takes work and learning you just have to spend the time to make it work and most importantly not take yourself too seriously.
