Pulled the old tail lights at lunch

Dielectric grease is your friend. Cleaned the terminals with a little sand paper and re used.

    LEDs installed.

Next, I had to pull the old registration numbers.

Sort of a chore. Actually pulled em a few days ago using a razor blade and following up with goo gone to get the residue.

Well, with fiberglass, there was some slight color difference. Plus I wanted to polish the area completely before I put the new numbers on. So....I couldn't stand it...broke out the polisher and went to work just to see how it would do.

Think I got my answer. Purty darn good.

Actually, the above is misleading. There are areas on the boat that are pretty good with just a wipe down with a rag, some that need polishing, some that need compound and polishing and still others that need wet sanding, compounding then polishing.

Not having any experience with all this, the above is an area that was pretty good without touching it, so I just compounded one pass, then polished one pass. Feels smooth to the touch and the color pops out now and you can tell the reflection runs and looks deep.

Well, here's the absolute worst are on the boat before:

And now after, having run the compound and the polish over it.

You can tell it's much better and is now smooth to the touch, but it will require a full step down wet sanding, then compound and polish again, but I'm thinking you won't be able to tell there is any discoloration at all by the time I'm through with it.

Getting pretty excited to see how it comes out.......now all I need is about 16 hours to do the whole boat.
