Can't help much Larry, bought mine used from a dealer & it had two years left on the warranty.
as mentioned in earlier post, dealer was pushing a ext warranty for up to 5 years on electronics on the boat son is looking at. My question is anyone can tell me what all it would cover ? He called dealership this morning and his salesman is off today and the general manager said he wasnt sure if it is the gauges, switches and TM, I think he would be better off to not go with it as the biggest cost would be the trolling motor and if it were I wouldnt go back with the same TM (42lb) anyway. just need some thought if you guys know anything bout this, tryin to help him out on this. I told him I would extend the motor warranty if possible my self

Only thing I can think is it might cover the tilt and trim cylinder. Can't say for sure but some factory extended warranties exclude that which is pricey to replace from the dealer but can be rebuilt or bought used or remanned at less than an arm and a leg. Even if I'm right, I'd forgo it. The TM wouldn't be worth repairing or replacing because he's eventually going to want to upgrade to more thrust and the same for electronics. For what is standard, it's better to replace than repair. As far as switches and gauges and whatnot, most switches - even tracker branded from the dealership is going to be sub $50 and a tach would only cost you $100 if you went high end and they don't tend to go out often. The rest of the gauges are worthless anyway.
Save the $900, but do get the extended on the motor.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
The electronics warrenty is for the motor guide trolling motor. The mercury has a five year warrenty, and the trolling motor one year. In about a year, you will get two separate letters from mercury. One is an offer to extend the motor warrenty, another is an offer to extend the trolling motor warenty - which was $ 62 in my case for the trolling motor. I didn't do it because I now have an i-pilot. Gauges, etc are for one year.

If the General Manager does not know.....then how do you know the salesman knows what he is talking about. I think its BS....If they are going to charge you 900 bucks for extra warranty then you should be provided with a document showing what all you get for the 900 bucks.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

you so right G, he will have to see it in writing but I just cant see the extra money for coverage on items that you could all replace for about that he is passing it up and I think he will be fine, he wont have the same depth finder, trolling motor on there for long any way, well if he is anything like me, didnt like TM or FF on the boat but no cheaper to take it off
BTW talked to Tommy at Sherms and he was a nice fellow but just didnt have any boats instock in that range and said it would be about 5 weeks and I know Matt aint gonna wait that long
When I bought mine I took one of the warranty's that covered most everything, and I'm glad I did because I had to use it twice, once on the plumbing, and on the motor.
I wouldn't get the 42 pound thrust tm, that's what I have, I would get a 60 or 70 pound thrust.
Good Luck....crappie cowboy
Before your son purchases a Tracker boat he needs to look at the same model in a Lowes boat. More leg room for the driver and a lot wider boat. When the general manager doesn't know about what it covers I wouldn't spend the money.
You can custom build a 1654 or 1754 with a 50 to 75 hp engine for less than 13k and get what you want.
