    Default Ramp

Didn't go fishing today but decided to drive out to the ramp just to have a look since there was so much boat traffic on the lake (Madison Landing - the Rez). When I got there there was only one boat on the ramp but it was not being launched or pulled out (brand new Tracker 175 pro, the red one with a fifty merc). There were 4 guys, 2 adults & 2 kids, speaking Spanish, and just walking abound the back of the boat. After a few minutes I decided to go down to see what was up. I walk up, say good afternoon in Spanish, & ask whats wrong (all the rest in English). They say the battery is dead, I try it, it's got enough juice to tilt the motor and turn it over, but not enough to turn it fast enough to crank it. Well, I get em to take the rear seat out so we could open the battery compartment & I talked em through unhooking from the cranking battery & hooking to the TM battery, it cranked, switched back to cranking batt with motor still running, & it's making good volts. They said thanks, I go back to the truck & continue to watch. Well, they're just sitting/standing there looking, I go back down, help get the boat situated, kids in PFDs, show driver how to shift into reverse, they back out, very very slowly then head off up the lake. Did I mention this was their first time to put the boat in the water? Well it was.

I didn't hang around for the getting the boat back on the trailer ordeal but I'm sure that was a doozy.

Wonder if I did the right thing helping them get going?

I keep a set of jumper cables in my boat....just in case I have to jump myself off from my trolling battery....that way I don't have to disconnect anything. Only used them one time though and that was to jump another boat off at the ramp.
Hook One and I fished at Enid today....we kept watching a old man ( yes dadgummit....older than us) he was fishing by hisself and I looked away and then looked back and his boat seats were empty....could not see him anywhere in the boat. I looked some more and saw something in the water....I thought it might be the top of his head. I told Gary it looked like I was fixing to get wet...I circled back around towards the guys boat and was going to it when he stood up, Lol....he was bent way down doing something and I just couldn't see him. What I saw in the water I discovered was a 2 liter coke bottle he was using for a marker. Anyway....I had to check it out...sure glad I didn't have to get wet after all.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
