I'm thinking of upgrading my front unit to a combo, only have sonar now, use a handheld Garmin for gps. Wannabe, thanks, sent me an old FHS chip for my Garmin GPSMAP 76Cx but it does not have Okatibbee creek on it. Scott has a LMS (I think) with the base map according to Sac and it does have the creek on it and it has maybe spoiled me, now I want that on my boat. So what combo units with chips do you have and can you tell me if they show Okatibbee with the creek where I do 90% of my fishing. I haven't been able to find a site that lets you pick and look at what is on the chip. Would like MS and Ala for sure. Having the creeks on there sure makes it easier to follow. Sure would be nice to be able to see a pix of the lakes you mainly fish on the map sites.

Gotta tell ya Steve J. Go to a BPS and get your hands on a demo HDS and take a look at the maps on it for the Lake Insight. You could scroll over to Okitibbee and see what it will display. I looked at one and it's head and shoulders over anything I've seen before. Lowrance lists Okitibbee as being covered too.
The catch is Lowrance's reputation for customer service and the price is on up there compared to the alternatives though.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
Well, what do ya know. There is a Okitibbee available for free.
SteveJ, follow this link:
Enhanced Lake Maps
and see if your unit is listed.
Then click on Download Maps
Let me know if it's worth a flip.

Thanks, don't have a Lowrance unit of any kind, just that Garmin GPSMAP 76CX. But if what I read it will upgrade any listed base map correct, download to a chip and put it in your Lowrance?

I have an HDS8 w/Insight---really big, bright display, but based on reports from other forums, I'm almost afraid to turn it on.
I'll give you a hunnert for it Rock...on account of us being buds and all.
Not sure how good they are Steve. Don't know if it'll have countours or not. Need to download the Enid, Butla and Okitibbe and check it out. I'll do that and let ya know, but yeah, your gonna need a Lowrance to make it work.

Steve, the base maps in the Lowrance unit should have the map you see in scotts unit. Forget Garmin. The maps will be different. Go in the store and like WN said have them power up a test unit and then scroll over to Okatibee and zoom in and check the map.
