Help me understand the Obama plan

Obama's plan is simple, spend trillions of dollars that we don't have so our children and their children will have to pay twice the taxes that we do.

You seem to forget that President Obama didn't get us here and is doing what he can to remedy the situation. If you believe that this is an overnight fix than you are really out of touch with reality. This may not even be solved in his term in office.
It only takes a second to get a black eye but take a week or better to heal it.

What about the ones that don't have a job now or a pay check? What does that do for them?

What does giving the Smithsonian $150 million do for them? What does giving the National Endowment for the Arts $50 million do for them? Those are just two examples off the top of my head.

This is pork spending, plain and simple.

Most recessions last about 18 months. The current recession started last year so, even if they do nothing, we should be out of it by the end of the year.

My firm hosts an economic update every year for the local business community. The speaker is the chief economist for Suntrust bank. He predicted that the last two quarters of this year will show growth -- small levels of growth, but growth.

He also said there are four specific criteria for a true economic stimulus, and this bill doesn't meet any of them.

This last point reminds me of a hypothetical garden from which food is taken to feed a group of people. But the people take the food and put their energy into other activities.... not back into the garden. And the garden dries up. Would this make sense? No. And yet, many seem to be OK with the idea that the government should take money from a certain sector that produces and give it to a sector that does not. Then, when they are in a queue line for bread or cars or medical treatment, they will wonder what happened to the garden.

I didn't say anything about it being his fault. I said he ain't doing nothing that is going to fix this mess. He is just making it worse on our proginy by spending trillions of dollars that we don't have. That means we gotta borrow it. That means taxes go up. That means we are even farther in debt and when you are in dedt you are not financialy stable. Our debt is part of what got us here, along with all the other bulls### that gov has been doing for the last 20 years. This black eye didn't happen in a second and it dang sure ain't gonna heal in a week. Another load of crap is the belief that only obama can get us out of this. He can't get us out. There has to be billions of dollars to hit the economy in the normal way, selling goods and services. He can not make that happen.

Sometimes you just have to have faith in the Lord to get us thru our trying times.
He is trying to find ways to put people back to work, which will spark the economy.
When you say he can't make it happen it sounds like your hoping he can't make it happen.

Hey Reaper, I had always thought that about the Hollywood folks. They make way too dang much money. The only bad part is, we the people are responsible for this. We spend our dollars watching their movies and the such. However I think the government should enact a celebrity tax and a big city tax. Like california, as you mentioned for example is broke. They lived wealthy for years but are now needing help, probably wanting the poor folks like us to bail them out. They should turn to their rich movie stars and such for a bailout. Why does anyone need that much money anyway. Yeah we would all like to be somewhat wealthy i guess. But if you told me I could only make 500 thousand for a year or i would have to pay a celebrity tax, do you think i would give up being a celebrity to keep from paying it. I dont think so. We have so much money in this country that is wasted on a daily basis. I have always thought they should try to enact an international lottery system to set up funds for certain things such as, disaster relief, recession aid, healthcare, I mean we could fund alot of stuff with this. However i know something like this would never pass and it would have so many flaws, cause it would be government ran and we know what the government does. They would screw it all up and pocket the funds or they would have to skip a few of the drawings due to one falling on one of their paid 50 day holidays, one of those days such as, " we need a day off with pay holiday" you could name it anything I guess.

The main thing to remember about Obama is that hes never had a real job, hes never been in an executive position where decisions have to made. Top pick for the job of president aye? After one term as senator, we needed to ask- just how does a relatively poor kid of a broken home get money for Harvard? How is a man like this suppose to understand our economy and the way life really is?

I think if they get rid of some of the fat cats & midle man for every high payed (person) they have assistants and so on in these big companies and just put the money back to the littil person it would help. They could keep jobs in USA also people would spend moore ect,ect,ect ( GOV. included)

Since my response this morning has already been axed, I'll just say that the part of the Stimulus bill that is also geared for roads and bridges is supposed to provide Americans with jobs. Fact is, the corrupt contractors that most likely paid a bribe to get the job in the first place, will be employing about 90% of Illegal Mexicans. How does this help Americans and their bank accounts?

I also mentioned California is currently broke. Anyone due a tax refund from the State will not receive it, because the State insists on keeping the money to use it for other things. How fair is that? California should be a warning sign to the rest of the Nation to wake up.

California has had to deal with illegals for a long time and made them welcome. Frisco's own Mayor delclared it to be a Sanctuary City. It now has taken it's toll. Why should the rest of the Country bail out the home of the Rich and Shameless? Should the US bail out California, every State in the Union will expect the same treatment. Choke on it Cali. You earned it. The folks running things out there are too stupid for their own good.
